Varsity Boys Cross Country Team Finishes 1st

The Lufkin High School Varsity Boys Cross Country Team finished 1st at The Hallsville Invitational Cross Country Meet on September 12th, 2014. This was a significant accomplishment for the team, who defeated strong regional competitors, Longview Pine Tree and Hallsville High Schools. The Lufkin team finished with only 81 points and an average time in the 5K race of 17:36. Finishing 3rd overall in the field of 126 5A and 6A competitors from 13 schools was Lufkin High School Junior, Levante Williams, with a finish time of 16:36:83. Miguel Harvey (Jr.) finished 6th overall with a finish time of 17:05:51. Lufkin’s two individual metal winners lead their teammates, Kevin Tipton (Jr.), Tomas Berumen (Sr.), Noah Vier (Jr.), Christian Gerrero (Soph.), and Ryan Rayburn (Sr.) to the season’s first team victory.
