Seventy-eight minutes and 14 seconds.
That is how long Lufkin fought Oak Ridge to put up the winning goal on Friday’s last home game for the Pack before entering bi-district playoffs.
The first half ticked by, with a Lufkin yellow card being the only incident. A scoreless second half seemed to be looming on the horizon, with Lufkin still unable to capitalize on penalty kicks or drives. Another yellow card came and went before the countdown clock read 1:46.
Finally, a goal for Lufkin. For the last 106 seconds, Lufkin coasted into the glorious sunset of a winning season.
And now, they can look forward to the bi-district playoffs, beginning March 28.
