District Play has Begun!

The Woodlands Highlanders won on Friday, September 28 against Conroe, 56-28 in their first district match-up. They hosted A&M Consolidated this past weekend, losing 14-21. The Woodlands was ranked #16 but has now fallen from the Top 25 while AMC moved from #24 to #22 of 5A teams in Texas. The Bryan Vikings (with a 20-7 win against Oak Ridge on September 28th) played the Conroe Tigers at home this past Friday losing 35-42. Oak Ridge hosted College Park on October 5th (who lost to Clear Brook, a non-district rival, 20-17 on September 28) winning 23-20.

Region 2, District 14, 5-A Standings:
Lufkin Panthers: 1-0
The Woodlands Highlanders: 1-1
Conroe Tigers: 1-1
Bryan Vikings: 1-1
A&M Consolidated Tigers: 1-1
Oak Ridge War Eagles: 1-1
College Park Cavaliers: 0-1

The pollsters aren’t showing Lufkin any love yet, but since they had a bye week, the Panthers were able to wait and watch show-downs take place in their district, giving them an early advantage. The Panthers will host The Woodland Highlanders this Friday, October 12th at 7:30pm at Abe Martin Stadium. Stay tuned to www.lufkinpanthersports.com for updates on district match-ups!
