After five straight wins for the Lady Pack soccer team, the taste of defeat is indeed bittersweet.
As The Woodlands Highlanders scored three times in the first of two 40-minute halves, the lady Panthers team struggled to maintain a solid defensive front while also pushing for a goal of their own.
In the second half, Lufkin was able to accomplish both despite a Woodlands goal early on. Darcy Jackson attempted a goal with 24 minutes left on the clock, followed just a few minutes later by team captain Moriah Phillips. It would be midfielder Shelby Smitherman who finally put Lufkin on the board late in the half.
The 4-1 loss leaves the Lady Pack holding at 5-2-1 for the second half of district play. On March 16, they will travel to Bryan for a Saturday match-up against the Vikings, intending to resume the Pack winning tradition.
