The Lufkin Lady Panther softball team saw action during Saturday’s The Big Chill Tournament, Feb. 9, at Morris Frank Park in Lufkin.
As the unofficial opener of the season, the girls fought off the chill in the air and threatening rain to spend time on the mound, rounding bases and jelling together as a team. With more freshman and sophomores than juniors and seniors, there is a lot of potential to watch for in the upcoming season.
District play for softball starts on Feb. 26 with an away game at A&M Consolidated. Till then, the Lady Pack has a tournament and two home scrimmages, including Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 6:30p.m. against Diboll at Morris Frank Park in Lufkin.
