Rain in the area forced the Lufkin Lady Panthers’ district opener to be pushed back a day. The extra day proved to be worth the wait as Smiley Radke pitched a no-hitter and the Lufkin bats provided her with plenty of backup on the way to a dominating 10-0 win over the College Park Lady Cavaliers.
Radke struck out 13 Lady Cavs for the Lady Pack as it coasted to its second straight run-rule victory at Morris Frank Park.
Sara Mayes led the Lady Panthers at the plate with a pair of doubles and three RBI.
Leah Akridge used her bat and her speed to help the Lufkin offense, finishing with a single and an RBI to go along with three steals and two runs.
Julie Armes added a hit, three stolen bases and two runs.
The Lady Panthers struck for two runs in the first inning and continued to build upon that lead, eventually putting the 10-run mercy rule into effect after six innings.
College Park fell to 4-12 on the season with the loss.
