Lady Pack soccer ties scrimmage; Varsity soccer teams open season Thursday

The Lufkin Lady Panthers battled Hallsville in a scrimmage on Tuesday night, coming away with a 1-1 tie.

The Lady Panthers will open their season on Thursday as they compete in the College Station ISD tournament.

In JV action, the Lady Panthers battled to a scoreless draw against Hallsville.

The Panthers’ JV started their season in style on Tuesday night, coming away with a 6-0 win over the Livingston Lobos.

Ezquial Montilla led Lufkin with two goals while Leo Acevedo, Erick Martinez, Gustavo Rivera and David Cisneros each scored a goal for the Panthers.

Lufkin’s JV returns to action on Friday night as it hosts Crockett at 5:30 p.m.

The Panthers’ varsity will get their season started on Thursday as they compete in Klein’s Showcase Tournament of Champions.

Lufkin will open the tournament with a 1:30 p.m. game against Northland on Thursday afternoon.

The Panthers follow that up with a game against Tomball at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Lufkin then closes the showcase with a 12:30 p.m. contest against Clear Brook on Saturday.
