After a pair of non-district wins over spring break, the Lufkin Lady Panthers’ softball team will get back to work as they resume 12-6A play in Montgomery on Tuesday night.
Lufkin is coming off a tough 3-1 win over the Huntington Devilettes over spring break. In that game, Smiley Radke was outstanding again in striking out 14 in the complete game effort.
Lufkin built a 2-0 lead in the second inning and tacked on an insurance run in the fifth inning after Huntington had drawn to within a single run.
However, Radke turned away the final threats in helping the Lady Pack to another win.
That victory came after the Lady Panthers rolled to a 10-3 win over Liberty earlier during spring break.
Radke allowed just one run while allowing three hits and striking out 11.
Sara Mayes led Lufkin with four hits while Leah Akridge contributed three hits.
In that game, Lufkin struck for six runs in the second inning and eventually built a 10-1 lead before coasting to the win.
Lufkin (2-0 in district) returns to district action on Tuesday night when it travels to Montgomery.
