With some key wins already under their belts, the Lufkin Lady Panthers returned home in impressive fashion on Friday night, pummeling Montgomery in a 71-28 decision.
Kurstyn Harden led Lufkin with 13 points while Diamond Johnson added 11. KeKe Cleveland scored 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers for the Lady Pack.
Jada Johnson and Jakayla Suell added nine points apiece.
It was all Lufkin from the opening tip as the Lady Panthers jumped out to a 30-9 lead after the first quarter.
Lufkin eventually led 40-13 at halftime and 63-24 after three quarters.
The Lady Panthers will return to district action on Tuesday night as they play at Oak Ridge.
Panthers 42, Montgomery 37 – The Panthers made it a 3-0 start to district action as they battled their way to a 42-37 win over Montgomery on the road Friday night.
Courtnee Garcia and Ke’Vonte Hurts led the way for the Pack with 10 points apiece.
James Jefferson added eight points and Kordell Rodgers had seven.
Other scorers for Lufkin were Chris Thompson (3), Rylee Holt (2) and Nick Wilson and Jeremiah Davis (1).
The Panthers led 25-19 at half before pulling out the win.
Lufkin will return home on Tuesday night as it hosts Oak Ridge with the varsity set for a 7 p.m. start.
