Lufkin forced College Park to march to a Panther beat, drumming up a 21-point lead during Friday’s home game on Jan. 11.
The first two quarters were back-and-forth, almost answering goal for goal at one point. In the second, College Park tied it up 19-19. Lufkin staved off a Cavalier lead and put themselves solidly ahead with 40-27 on the board.
The third and fourth quarters saw Lufkin advance despite a couple of Cavalier rallies with a final score of 79-58. This win puts Lufkin at 3-1 for the district season sitting between The Woodlands and Bryan at the number two spot in league standings.
The Panthers travel to The Woodlands to bring the heat against 1-3 Oak Ridge War Eagles, Jan. 18.
