It was a big night for the Lufkin soccer teams as they rolled to shutout wins over Montgomery on Tuesday.
The Panthers hit the road for a 3-0 win over Montgomery while the Lady Pack upped that score by pounding out a 4-0 win on Valentine’s night.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Panthers were in control throughout the game in their first district home game.
Abby Horn got the Lady Panthers on the board in the first seven minutes of the game as she scored on a free kick. That proved to be the only score until halftime.
Lufkin then put the game away with three second-half goals. Lufkin started the onslaught with Julie Muniz scoring with 28 minutes remaining.
Katelyn Knowles put the finishing touches on the game by scoring two goals in a span of two minutes to make the final 4-0.
On the boys side, the Panthers moved to 1-1-1 in district with the crucial win.
The Panthers got on the board on a Jared Vasquez goal in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Oscar Ibarra scored a goal to move the margin to 2-0. The Panthers then added their third and final goal with seven minutes left to put the game away.
In JV girls action, Lufkin battled to a 1-1 tie.
The Lady Panthers return to the road on Friday night where they will face the Oak Ridge Lady Eagles. The Panthers will be at home on Friday night to host Oak Ridge.
