The Lufkin Panthers and Lady Panthers will be back in action on Wednesday night after their games were rained out on Tuesday.
The Panthers’ baseball team will travel to take on the Oak Ridge War Eagles on Wednesday night at 6 in a game that was originally scheduled for Tuesday. That game can be heard on the radio at FM 94.7.
Lufkin has gotten itself into playoff contention by winning three of its last four games. The Panthers currently sit alone in fourth place in the district and can clinch a playoff spot with two wins in its last four games or some help from Conroe or Montgomery,
two teams tied for fifth place with 2-9 records.
The Panthers have a pair of games against Oak Ridge this week before finishing the regular season with two games against The Woodlands next week.
The Highlanders are in first place with a 9-2 record, followed closely by College Park, which is 8-3. Those teams meet in two games this week.
Meanwhile Conroe and Montgomery are in a fifth-place tie and play each other in a pair of games this week.
The Panthers will be back at home on Friday night, hosting Oak Ridge at 6.
Lady Panthers playing at Oak Ridge Wednesday night: The Lufkin Lady Panthers’ softball team is entering the final week of the regular season looking to gather some momentum for the playoffs.
Lufkin will begin that push with a game on Wednesday night at 6:30 against Oak Ridge. The JV game will start at 4:30.
The Lady Panthers are currently in third place in the district with a 5-3 record, a single game behind tonight’s opponent. The Woodlands is 8-0 and in first place in the district.
Lufkin is followed in the district standings by Montgomery (3-5), Conroe (2-6) and College Park (0-8).
The Lady Panthers will wrap up the regular season on Friday night when they host The Woodlands.
