Houston Chronicle – There were days this summer when JaBryce Taylor simply didn’t want to get out of bed. The senior wide receiver at Lufkin dreaded going up to the school to lift weights or run.
He did, however. It’s what his former coach expected him to do.
“Since I’m a senior, I have to be a leader on the team, and he would say, ‘A leader wouldn’t still be lying in bed while everybody else is up there working out,’ ” Taylor said of former Lufkin coach John Outlaw, who died Dec. 23 of a heart attack after leading the Panthers for 17 seasons.
