Panthers Stay in Playoff Hunt

baseball-stockThe Lufkin Panther baseball team stays in the hunt for a playoff spot while taking down the College Park Cavaliers on Tuesday’s match in The Woodlands.

Big hits came from Gunnar Quick and Trey Cumbie with Tyler Stubblefield on the mound to lead the Panthers to a 4-2 win over the Cavaliers.

Stubblefield shut down the Cavs with 10 strikeouts, no earned runs on five hits, and two walks. His complete game effort was supported by Quic, who homered and doubled, and Cumbie who also homered.

The Pack will continue the hunt for a seed in the playoffs on Friday, 6 p.m., at Morris Frank Park against the Oak Ridge War Eagles.
