The Lufkin Panthers have hit day 3 of football camp, and while retention has been a major factor in improving the offensive line, Offensive Coordinator Scott Green is looking for the right combination.
“One of the most important things we look for is carrying over from the spring time,” he said. “The second thing is conditioning, trying to make sure they are ready for pads on Friday.”
The Panthers are starting out the season as the No. 10 ranked school in the 5A AP Preseason Poll released earlier in the week. This places Lufkin between two very tough teams – John Tyler at No. 8 and Longview at No. 12 – while trying to fill key positions.
“We lost Terry Marks, and KeKe,” said Green. “Now, we’re replacing them with Davis, Phillips, Savon Fields, Malik Jackson, and Ellis. We’re trying to put them in the best possible place to be successful.”
The Pack faces one more day of camp before the pads come out on Friday, August 14.
