Fresh off winning the Southwest Regional and clinching the city’s first-ever trip to the Little League World Series, the Lufkin All-Stars are already getting support from across the community.
In an effort to help offset some of the expenses for their upcoming trip to Williamsport, Penn., Whataburger is holding a fundraiser/pep rally at their location beside Wal-Mart from 5-8 p.m. tonight (Thursday, Aug. 10).
Local fans are encouraged to come have dinner with the local team and 100 percent of all sales will go to help the team with their expenses.
“Whataburger is proud and honored to support the Lufkin All-Stars!” Whataburger franchisee Chris Johnson said. “Please come out and meet the boys and their families before they leave for Williamsport! All sales between 5-8 tonight will go to the team to help with their expenses. Go Lufkin!”
Lufkin clinched the Southwest Regional with a thrilling 2-1 win over the McAllister Park All-Stars.
They will open the Little League World Series in Williamsport on Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. against the Great Lakes Regional winner in a game that will be shown on ESPN2.
