With the second day of pads underway, Lufkin Panther Defensive Line coach Jamie Bridges is seeing positive signs from his team.
“We are getting really good effort,” he said. “They are doing everything we asked.”
This effort is paying off for the line in camp, which began way before camp started last week. “We started working this defensive line in the spring,” he said. “They have caught on and ran with it. We are able to add something daily.”
“They are smart kids,” he said. “They are ready to get on the field against somebody else.”
With the scrimmage against Conroe and Hunstville on Friday, soon-to-be three-year starters Boom Massey, Carl Chapman, and Eric Smallwood and the rest of the Panther team will have that chance.
