Lady Panthers fall to Oak Ridge

The Lufkin Lady Panthers’ softball team raced out to a three-run lead but couldn’t hold on as they dropped a 7-6 decision to the Oak Ridge Lady Eagles in District 12-6A action in Conroe Wednesday night.
Lufkin held a 5-2 lead after four innings before Oak Ridge struck for four runs in the fifth inning. The Lady Eagles added a run in the sixth inning then held off a final Lufkin rally in preserving the win.
The Lady Panthers (5-4 in district) will close out the regular season on Friday night when they host The Woodlands Lady Highlanders at 6:30 p.m.
Lufkin, which has already wrapped up a playoff spot, would clinch third place in the district with a win or a Montgomery loss against Oak Ridge.
