After running through five scrimmages without being scored on, the Lufkin Lady Panthers’ softball team will kick off the regular season with a game in Hudson on Monday night.
The Lady Panthers started the scrimmage portion of their schedule with two games in Henderson, coming away with a 2-0 victory over Hallsville before blanking Henderson, 7-0.
Lufkin then returned home for a doubleheader scrimmage against Hudson and Central. The Lady Panthers opened with a 5-0 win over the Lady Hornets before taking a 7-0 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.
Lufkin rounded out the scrimmage portion of its schedule with a 10-0 win over Livingston at home on Tuesday night.
The Lady Panthers are coming off a season in which they advanced all the way to the regional finals before being eliminated.
Lufkin will make the short trip to Hudson on Monday night to take on the two-time state champion Lady Hornets.
First pitch for the JV game is set for 4:30 p.m. with the varsity following at 6.
Following Monday’s game, Lufkin will travel to compete in the Bryan/College Station tournament over the weekend.
