In the first inning, The Woodlands took the lead with a 1-0 start.
In the second inning, the Highlanders doubled that. In the third, the score again doubled to 4-0.
As the Highlanders exponentially led the game, the Lufkin Panthers struggled against Woodlands’ pitcher Ryan Burnett who extended his scoreless innings to 14.
The Panthers had the beginnings of what seemed to be a rally in the fourth inning with a few grounders and a pop fly to right field, yet Burnett and the Highlanders put the brakes on the Pack advance.
A Panther error at the top of the fifth made it a 5-0 game. After another run from the Highlanders, the Panthers tried to rally again in the bottom of the eighth with another set of infield hits. As the inning closed out, the Highlanders would take a 6-0 win over Lufkin.
The Pack will travel to College Station on April 9 to take on the A&M Consolidated Tigers at 6 p.m.
