After finishing in a second-place tie with the Conroe Tigers, the Lufkin Panthers’ basketball team lost a coin flip on Wednesday morning, meaning they will represent the district as the third-place team.
Conroe will enter the playoffs as the second seed.
Lufkin’s opponent is still to be decided as it will take on the loser of Friday night’s game between Rockwall and Mesquite.
The winner of that game will take the district’s first seed while the loser will take the second seed.
Those teams split their season series and each finished the district slate with an 11-3 mark.
Lufkin is entering the playoffs with quite a bit of momentum after knocking off district champion The Woodlands, 71-60, on Tuesday night.
The Panthers’ playoff opener will be held on Monday or Tuesday night with a time and site still to be determined.
